Terms of Use
Effective date: September 24, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the individual developer who operates Put Where ("the App", "we", "us", "the operator", Haku Shunketsu). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. This English version is authoritative; if a translation conflicts with it, this version controls.
1. Acceptance of Terms
You must be able to form a binding contract to use the App. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. If you are using the App on behalf of a household or group of people you invite to a shared library, you are responsible for making sure they are aware of and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy as it relates to their use.
2. The App and License Granted to You
The App helps you record, organize, and (optionally) share where your belongings are kept, including through camera-based photo capture and optional AI-assisted recognition. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on supported devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, in accordance with the usage rules of the app store or platform you obtained it from.
3. Accounts and Apple ID
The App does not have its own account system, sign-up, or login. Your identity within the App is tied to your Apple ID and device (and, where relevant, your Apple ID's App Store purchase history for subscriptions and credit packs) and, if you enable it, your iCloud account for data storage and sync. You are responsible for keeping your device and Apple ID secure; we cannot recover your data for you if you lose access to your device and iCloud account without a backup.
4. Your Content
You own your content. Photos, item names, notes, locations, and any other content you create in the App ("Your Content") remain yours. We do not claim ownership of Your Content. We process Your Content — storing it on your device and, if enabled, your own iCloud; sending relevant portions of it to an AI endpoint when you use AI recognition — solely to provide the App's features to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for Your Content and for making sure you have the right to record, store, and (if you choose) share it with others through a shared library.
5. Shared Libraries
If you create or join a shared library, you are sharing access to that library's content with its other members, subject to the role (owner, admin, member, or observer) assigned to you. Each participant is responsible for their own conduct within a shared library, including what they add, edit, or delete, and for respecting the other members' access to and expectations about shared content. The library owner controls membership, roles, and library-level settings (including whether an activity log records members' actions, as described in our Privacy Policy), and may remove members or stop sharing the library at any time; doing so ends the other participants' access to that library's content going forward. We are not responsible for disputes between members of a shared library over its content.
6. AI Recognition Is Not Guaranteed to Be Accurate
The App's AI-assisted photo recognition and keyword generation are provided as a convenience to help you record items faster. AI-generated suggestions — including item names, storage locations, and search keywords — may be inaccurate, incomplete, or simply wrong. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting any AI-suggested content before saving it, and for the accuracy of the records you keep in the App. We do not guarantee the availability, accuracy, or performance of any AI feature, whether provided through our hosted (official) model or a third-party/self-hosted endpoint you configure yourself.
7. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
The App offers optional, auto-renewing subscriptions (for expanded feature limits and/or AI usage) and one-time consumable purchases (AI credit packs), all billed and processed through Apple's App Store in-app purchase system:
- Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically for the same duration at the then-current price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can view, manage, or cancel a subscription, and view its price and billing period, at any time in your device's App Store account settings. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, and any unused portion of a free trial (if offered) is forfeited when you purchase a subscription during the trial.
- AI credit packs are one-time, consumable purchases that add a fixed amount of AI usage to your account; they are not subscriptions and do not renew, and do not expire.
- Refunds, billing questions, and cancellations are handled by Apple, not by us, in accordance with Apple's own policies. We cannot issue refunds directly; please contact Apple support or use the App Store's refund request process. Where relevant to a refund decision, and only with your separate, explicit, and revocable consent, we may report to Apple how much of a purchased credit pack you had used, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Prices are as displayed in the App Store for your region at the time of purchase and may change for future billing periods with notice as required by Apple's rules.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms; attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the App, our server infrastructure, or other users' shared libraries; use the App's AI or gateway infrastructure to process content unrelated to the App's intended purpose (for example, using it as a general-purpose API relay); reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App except as permitted by applicable law; or interfere with another user's access to a shared library they have been legitimately invited to.
9. Changes to and Availability of the App and Service
We may add, change, or remove features of the App, and may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App or the server-side services it relies on (including AI recognition or the AI gateway), at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice of material changes that affect paid features, but the App is provided by an individual developer without guaranteed uptime, and features that depend on our server (such as the official AI model) may be temporarily or permanently unavailable. Features that operate entirely on your device and your own iCloud (such as local records and your own iCloud sync) are not dependent on our server's continued operation.
10. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device; see our Privacy Policy for how to also remove associated iCloud data. We may suspend or terminate your access to server-dependent features (such as the AI gateway) if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, without affecting the data stored locally on your device or in your own iCloud, which remains yours.
11. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that any AI-generated content will be accurate, or that data loss will never occur (although we design the App to keep your data on your device and your own iCloud specifically to reduce this risk). Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the App or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us (through Apple) for the App or its in-app purchases in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose, or (b) fifty US dollars (US$50). Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Acknowledgment of Apple as Third-Party Beneficiary
These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for the App. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the applicable purchase price, if any, for the App to you; to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation. Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, or discharge of any third-party claim that the App or your possession or use of it infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms as they relate to your license to use the App, and, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the App or applicable requirements from Apple. We will update the effective date above when we do, and, for material changes, we will provide notice within the App in addition to publishing the updated Terms at https://putwhere.app/terms. Continued use of the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
